Cristiano Ronaldo – World’s Most Expensive Footballer vs Real Madrid – World’s …. Club

Real Madrid has done it again!

After signing Kaka from AC Milan earlier in the week for 60 million pounds, Real Madrid has broken its personal record to acquire the rights of Cristiano Ronaldo from Manchester United, with a staggering price tag of 80 million pounds, making him the most expensive footballer of all times!

Cristiano Ronaldo was part of the lack-luster Manchester United losing squad against FC Barcelona in the recent Champions League Final in Rome!

A gifted and young player with many awards in his bag, including Ballon d’Or and FifPro Best Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo was partying it up in Hollywood, CA when the news broke.

La Liga seems to be the league to follow next season!

As an avid Barcelona fan, I am very much interested in seeing how all this Real Madrid will translate on the field. It is clear, Madrid’s president Perez wants to revive the glory days of the “Galacticos” – Zidane, Beckham, and Ronaldo (The Brazilian).

The 6-2 thumping of Real Madrid by Barcelona a few weeks ago was tasty, but would be much tastier next year with 140 million pounds players on the field.

Vamonos Blaugranas!

Francoise Mbango: The Golden Girl of Cameroon

Francoise after winning the Gold medal in Triple Jump in Beijing 08.

Cameroon is a beautiful country with its own share of shortcomings. If it is known for one thing … well two things they must be a) The soccer team aka “Indomitable Lions” and b) One of the most peaceful countries in the constantly war torn African continent.

After winning the Gold medal in soccer against a fine Spain team during the Olympics in Sydney, the Indomitable Lions would add yet another world title under their belt and set their expectations even higher. During the last eight years, the lions have not really been able to live up to those expectations. With a recent lost against Brazil in the quarterfinal of the Olympic games in Beijing, the Lions have showed that there is still more work to do in the den.

However my post today is not about the Indomitable Lions but of a single Lioness – Francoise Mbango. The young mother just won the Gold medal in the Triple Jump (15m39) in Beijing, also shattering her olympic record of 15m30 (in Athens, Greece) along the way. For the second straight summer games, Francoise Mbango has single handedly carried Cameroon onto the highest stages!

I would like to dedicate this post to Francoise Mbango in her recent golden achievement and I certainly hope the goverment of Cameroon will honor her with a reward that matches her success. Put her on a FCFA bill for all I care. Congratulations Francoise!
